Reverend Al. Sharpton is being investigated by the feds. They seem to think that he commited tax fraud. An article in one paper even said that he has a mistress. They say she is the cause of his separation with his wife. Let's get to the stuff i want to know. Who in the world is his hairstylist and can we find the person and incarcerate him or her. Who in the world besides James Brown (who is dead now) thinks that it looks good. Isn't a perm in the same class as a jeri curl and a mullet. He needs atleast a shapeup and a goatee. Prison time for Al wont be a hardship, he did time before for that Vieques thing. Puerto ricans love Al for that, we even throw Al Sharpton parties filled with media coverage, yellow tape and white chalk and Ambulances. I love me some Al Sharpton....40master Hip Hop Hip Hop Gossip Hip Hop Podcast Online Hip Hop Radio
Racism still continues in America. Despite the controversy around the Jena 6, and reduced charges against Mychal Bell, he will continue to serve his sentence in jail after he recently pleaded guilty to a lower charge. According to reports, Mychal was allegedly the instigator in the event, but what bothers me even more is that he is being asked to provide financial restitution to the Barker family (The White Kid in the incident's family) for court costs in the amount of $935.
My people...como siempre (as Always) El Senor Al Sharpton delivers on his promises, remember the blog I posted about a few days back about Senor Sharpton asking the people to join him to protest hate crimes as well as the Department of Justice's handling of The Jena Six case, Well, mi gente the people came out in full force, about 20,000 protesters surrounded the Justice Dept headquarters in Washington friday.
Despite the fact that Digital Sales of Latin Music is on the rise, it appears that Latins in Hip Hop have yet to consistently make their mark in Hip Hop. Despite the growing sales in the Latin Market, and the growth in the Hispanic Population, the Latin Hip Hop segment has yet to prove to be a sustainable market. While African Americans in the Hip Hop Genre continue to make multiplatinum hits year over year, Latinos have to grip on to the past and talk about the last Latino that did it big which was Big Pun.
Check out this exclusive Panel with some of todays rising Latino Hip Hop Stars in New York City. My people , mi gente..New York's own prolific talented social conscience rapper. Before Mos Def and most artists currently defending the Jena Six, NYOIL was one of the first rappers to speak out about the Jena six. He may not be a main stream Rapper but he is definately on his way. He is repping all of us who face many struggles in our hip-hop culture. He is our voice. I do not say that lightly. He has put out a track on The Jena Six and it is fire!! He is also nominated for subsonic artist of the month at www.proghiphop.com

Oh My GOOSNESS!!! Seems like the world is going to small town Jena Lousianna today. According to CNNs reports they were letting in 5 buses into the town every 12 minutes to prevent flooding the city with people. For the full story click here.
A town of 3,000 in Jena Louisiana will be visited today by over 50,000 protesters to protest today's hearing of Michael Bell. The Jena 6, as we previously reported is today's confirmation that racism in America still exists. Although the attempted murder charges have been overturned on Michael Bell (Pictured above on the left), Michael still faces up to 25 years in jail for a brawl in which another Jena white student Justin Barker (Pictured next to Michael Bell) was also involved in. Today is a big day for America's justice system. While CNN has spent more time covering the OJ trial, the video below illustrates a small piece on the Jena 6. The town has already put barricades around the court house, but unfortunately I am not certain if that will be enough if justice is not served today in small town Jena. This maybe up there with the Rodney King trial back in LA a couple of years ago. Let's wait and see today.
Some positive things happening in Jena Lousiana for the Jena 6. There will be an empowerment concert in Jena Louisiana, David Bowie Donates 10k to the legal fund, and a Rally with take place on September 29th, 2007. The concert will feature Nick Cannon, Lloyd, Baby Boy, Sean P, Twista, Tank, Jagged Edge, Killer Mike, Bobby Brown, DTP's Small World and Hurricane Chris.
"A Louisiana appeals court yesterday overturned the aggravated-battery conviction of a black high school student who was found guilty of attacking a white classmate after a racial incident that raised tensions in their small town.
The state's 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal ruled that Mychal Bell, 17, should not have been tried as an adult by LaSalle Parish District Attorney J. Reed Walters, and that the trial judge erred in allowing Bell to be tried as an adult on charges of aggravated second-degree battery. Under Louisiana law, teenagers can be tried as adults for certain violent crimes but not battery, the court said.
Bell, who was 16 at the time of the incident, awaited sentencing on Sept. 20 in a case that drew nationwide attention because of the severity of the charges that had been filed against him and five other youths involved in a schoolyard fight. He faced 15 years in jail.
Thousands of protesters planned to board about 100 buses and converge in Bell's home town of Jena to protest the case.
Organizers of the protest, including the Rev. Al Sharpton and radio personality Michael Baisden, hailed the court's ruling but said the protest would continue because five other black youngsters who, with Bell, make up the "Jena 6" face charges similar to Bell's.
The youngsters were accused of kicking and punching a fellow student at Jena High School. The victim, Justin Barker, was knocked out and received a black eye but suffered no permanent injuries.
Walters first charged the attackers with attempted second-degree murder. He reduced the charges against five of the defendants as the case drew national attention.
Racial tension rose in Jena after white students hung three nooses in a tree at the school. Black parents wanted the students expelled, but the superintendent of schools opted to suspend them for three days.
In subsequent weeks, an arsonist torched a wing of the school, and racial fighting roiled the town. Only the black high school students were arrested and charged in the fights. Walters vowed to try them as adults.
Prosecutors now have the option of trying Bell for attempted murder as an adult or aggravated battery as a juvenile.
Bell has been jailed since his arrest in December. An attorney for Bell who appeared on Baisden's afternoon radio show along with Sharpton said that they will seek to free him and fight any attempts to retry him in juvenile court.
Mos Def was on Bill Maher the other night. On it, he stated that he will be heading down to Jena and calls for Jay Z, Will Smith, and other hip hoppers to join him. Read the full story here. Hopefully such a highly visible face on this national show will make an impact. Can we finally expect hip hop's "elite" to stop thinking about money for two seconds and make some noise in support of the Jena 6?
Just a little reminder: In a small town in Louisiana, called Jena, six African American boys have been convicted of a violent crime against a white student. The young men- Carwin Jones, Theo Shaw, Mychal Ball, Robert Bailey Jr., Bryant Parvis, and an unidentified male-are victims themselves of racial injustice in a predominantly white community where Jim Crow still lives.
As it stands today, Bell will be sentenced on September 20, but his charge, along with Theo Shaw and Carwin Jones has been reduced to aggravated second- degree battery and conspiracy. Bryant Purvis and Robert Bailey, Jr. still face an attempted murder charge.
It is clear that a fair trial cannot be had in Jena, Louisiana.
