Yesterday I attended a very special event, The Marty Lyons Foundation, "Cigar Night". The last Cigar Night was held on March 2001 at the Downtown Athletic Club's Heisman Trophy which was destroyed on 9/11. For 25 years The Marty Lyons Foundation has kept hope alive in the hearts of children with a terminal or life threatening illness by making their special wish come true! It was amazing to me to see all these people gather for a common cause. I swear as Marty was speaking a tear couldn't help but fall from my eye because here is this guy who was a professional football player in the National Football League, where he served for twelve years as a premiere defensive lineman for the New York Jets, and he is the most humble guy standing for a cause that we are all too familiar with. I know we all talk about doing things to benefit others, but for 25 years the foundation has been granting children and their parents their "last wishes", if you are one of those parents or child you know how important those simple things are. So it goes without saying I was honored to be in his presence. I think it's a wonderful thing he and his foundation are doing for our children. I didn't get a chance to shake his hand or thank him for all the wonderful things he has accomplished, but if he happens to read this, I just want to say thank you for everything you stand for.

My people, mi gente...We all love it when an underdog or person in an unfortunate situation comes out a winner and this story is no less than amazing. Carl Hunter is a construction company owner who lost both his homes to Hurricane Katrina. Carl , a regular powerball player had already purchased a ticket on the morning of Jan 16th when his wife called him and asked him to buy some milk. He brought the milk and with his last dollar he brought his second powerball ticket little did he know that he was holding a $97 million dollar ticket. As the cameras surrounded the estatic couple they said they had no immediate plans for the money but they do plan to focus on their retirement and rebuilding a camp lost to Hurricane Katrina. God bless the Hunters, enjoy! louisianna powerball lottery winnerhurricane katrina victim wins $97 million powerball lottery E.G Radio, ExtravaGangsta Radio,
With Mother's Day among us I wanted to take the time to thank all the Mother's out there in the world. A mother to me is the one who suffers when her child is ill, a mother is the one who will go to bat with anyone who messes with her kid, a mother is the one who is there in the hospital or doctor's office with her child to hold their hand and assure that things are going to be alright. Just because you push a kid out doesn't make you a mother. A mother is the one who stays up at night with their child who is burning up in fever, the one who takes and picks up their children to school then makes sure that the homework is done. Mothers are "not" perfect, but they are special. I use to think my mother was a pain in the ass, but today I think my mother is the strongest, most protective, person I know and I am who I am today because of the way my mother was with me. At an earlier time I didn't understand, but know that I am a PROUD mother of three young boys I look back and see so much of my mother in me, and although my mother won't get to read this; I wanted to put it out there for all the true Mothers who sacrifice their lives for the well being of their children and let them know they are appreciated. Mommy thank you and I love you more than you'll ever know. Happy Mother's Day!

As expected the protests began at around 3:00 pm hoping to send a message to stop the brutality that the NYPD is implicating around our neighborhoods. Al Sharpton, Nicole Paultre, and Jose Guzman were among the many to be arrested. In a way I'm proud that a lot of our people came out to support this INJUSTICE, but not enough is being done. People hit the streets, blocked intersections in a peaceful manner, but it hurts so bad to see them get arrested for voicing their opinions. It's unfair and the NYPD knows it. They don't have a right to treat our people like that. They call it "Civil Disobedience", I call it standing for what you believe in. Like Charles Barron said, "If Michael Vick could go to jail for dogs, and Wesley Snipes could go to jail for tax dollars, then people should go to jail when they kill INNOCENT people". Reverend Daughtry hopes the protest sends a message to the city that we need to put an end to "police brutality and police killings". Our lives are valuable, and this foolishness can no longer be tolerated!

As I reported two days ago, Al Sharpton is leading a City Wide Boycott of the Sean Bell verdict. He is calling on citizens of New York City to come together for a day of active protests throughout the city. Sharpton and the National Action Network have organized a citywide “pray in” in six locations across Manhattan and Brooklyn. The locations are as follows: 125Th Street and 3rd Ave, Park Avenue and 34Th Street, 60Th Street and 3rd Avenue, One Police Plaza, Varick and Houston Street, and in Brooklyn, House of the Lord Pentecostal Church located at 415 Atlantic Avenue. At each location, protesters are asked to get down on their knees in prayer, leading to a citywide slowdown. The entrances to the Midtown Tunnel, the Holland Tunnel, and the Triborough Bridge are to be affected. Nicole Paultre-Bell, Joseph Guzman, Trent Benefield, and Sharpton will lead the afternoon protests from One Police Plaza, the NYPD headquarter in Manhattan, starting at 3:00 PM. If you believe the verdict was unfair, please join the "pray in" and let's prevent another "Sean Bell" incident from happening.

I know this has nothing to do with hip hop, but I received an email yesterday and it has disturbed me to my core. This "Punk-Ass" man is ranting and raving about having "unprotected" sex with various woman mainly of Black and Spanish descent, and he is HIV positive. He feels because he drives a Jaguar, because he has diamonds and gold these women flock to him. He carries on to say that because a woman who didn't give a fuck infected him, now it's his turn to do the same. Please watch the video, listen to the list of names, hopefully it's no one you know. I have a message of my own for this bitch ass, if you don't care about infecting our daughters, sisters, and nieces why don't you take of your mask and your scully, let us see who you are? Bitch ass, your youngest victim is 15 years old and you don't give a fuck! Trust me you will burn in hell for all the foul shit you are doing to our youth!

According to this article, a video of Jimmy Hendrix with 2 women is expected to be released over the next couple of months. Let's add this to the list of Celebrity sex tapes now, except this one is in black and white. The footage is apparently 40 years old. I would like to get an interview with the chics who are in it and probably have 10 grand children who are teenagers whom will likely see the footage.

Charles Heston who was an Oscar winning actor died at the age of 84. He was also the President of the N.R.A (National Rifle Association) who attacked gun control advocates. In many ways he was admired by the gangster rappers and other criminals who commit violent crimes. He was actually a civil-rights activist who marched alongside Dr.Martin Luther King,jr in the heydey of the Civil Rights Movement. No word yet if he was allowed into heaven but the fact that he played "Moses" in "The Ten Commandments" should get him in. I wish Mr. Heston a farewell and thank you for all the accidental shootings and shootouts that occur when you do'nt have stricter gun laws. R.I.P 40Master
The Los Angeles Times is at it again. In his new column he (Chuch Williams) has wrote that Mc Hammer was the one who set up the infamous confrontation that had Suge Knight dangling Vanilla Ice out of s hotel suite window. The money that Ice gave up like a bitch helped start the record label "Death Row". Ice denies that it happened though suge knight said that he did hang out with Ice. After Suge found about the article he threatened the writer who has since vanished.....April Fools 40Master... Rest of post goes here.
Now I know I am meant to report about Hip Hop and everything Urban...but take a look at this! Elvis Presley's autograph is still smashing it with expensive scribbles, according to Autograph magazine's annual list of rock 'n' roll signatures. At prices of up to $25,000, the King's autograph is still a hot item to collectors, over 30 years after his death. Paul McCartney's signature comes in at number two on the new Top 10 Rockin' Buys list, compiled by expert Roger Epperson, and Aerosmith combined are third. Autograph Magazine's Top 10 Rock 'n' Roll buys are:
1. Elvis Presley 2. Paul McCartney 3. Aerosmith 4. Eric Clapton 5. AC/DC 6. Bob Dylan 7. Jimmy Page 8. Elton John 9. Eddie Van Halen 10. B.B. King

Suge Knight coming out with his new reality show is like O.J Simpson coming out in a episode of C.S.I: Miami. I can't wait to see whos the next one of those mofos that get shot. Violence, violence, violence............ Suge Knight is to the rap game, as the terrorist are to America. They both thrive on nothing but fear. Fat joe should have a cooking show and 50cent should be teaching youngens how to pump up with the juice. D.M.X as a vampire, that kinda fits him. Aslong as makes a hot song. Anyway im out 40Master Rest of post goes here.
Ever wondered what is that ****ing rapper talking about...wonder no more!!! Melo has broken down a few of slang words you may or may not no.
DUTTY WHINE : A dance originated in Jamaica where you move your legs in a butterfly motion and swing your head around
BREDWIN : slang used for close friendS or family
SHORTY : Originally used to mean a young man, new to the game. By new to the game, I don't mean he just meant a rapper, but he just started selling crack, just started rapping, whatever, but even simpler it was a term used to mean just a person much younger than you. Now, commercial rappers have turned the meaning upside down to mean a 'fine female'
DIAMOND IN THE BACK : Refers to the vintage 1970-1980 Cadillac series. The rear windows had a diamond shape.
PUSSY POPPIN : When a woman stand on her head/hands with legs spread, balancing as she shakes her ass front to back. This motion has been made popular by several porn movies and the song "Pussy Poppin'" By Luda
BUTTERS : when someone is ugly..or something you see or own is not very nice or on its last legs kinda thing
WHATS GWANIN : Jamaican slang for whats going on...whats up
BALLIN : To play basketball/ Living in affluence or wealth
ICE / BLING: Used to describe how much jewellery you have, if you are blingin or are iced out then its like a statement of how much money you have.
Whats going on fam! We are already nearly 4 months into the year and to be fair I haven't been impressed with the music tip so far. There's been Ricky Ross who I actually did get hyped about, but apart from that.......nothing. There's been Fat Joe but I didn't get his CD because I was getting vexed on the whole beef with 50 thing, its old news!!! I think Hip Hop needs to fix up and switch the flow a bit. Being U.K bred I know we have some great artists, and they in my opinion are incorporating a different sound which is the hotness! Check out my page on the community Ive got videos and music on this topic so let me know what you think. Melo
The only injustice their is, is in not fighting against it. A jury in Brooklyn reached a mostly guilty verdict the other day. Her Stepfather helped beat her and torture her with the help of her mom Nixzaliz Santiago. Cesar Rodriguez was found guilty of second degree manslaughter and other charges which carries a 25 year sentence. She was only 7 years old and who knows what she would of become. Cesar said "he beat her on the day of her death but that her mom was the one who delivered the final blow". All this because she opened a yogurt and had put toys on his computer keyboard. I hope they make this guy suffer as well as her mother who failed to protect her from him. I have a 5 yr old daughter and i will never hurt or allow anybody to harm her. Every childs life should be precious and allowed to blossom. Justice finallly prevailed and hopefully it always does. They both should be hung. Her trial is the next one and justice will come. Rest in peace Nixmary. Don't worry your in Gods hands now. 40master P.S- Shes the one on the right.
Its been a while since I posted an Editorial style write up on anything related to EG Radio, but I will take a stab at it since we just got back from Calle Ocho and I am on the plane with Myk Jones enroute to Cincinatti. The weekend was an eventful weekend filled with fun, networking, and even some craziness. In this short summary, I will summarize the highlights, the key events, and of course you can't bring Latinos from around the world in one place without the drama, so we will touch on that as well.
Day 1
Our first day was simply work and lots of play at night. Once we touched down and checked into the Hotel Clinton in Miami, some of our clients in Miami phoned us to work on some project related work so Myk Jones and I spent about 3 hours working. Once that was over - it was off to Wet Willies and Mangos where we tried to situate ourselves to broadcast live video and audio over the Internet. Unfortunately, Wet Willies said we had to call Corporate Headquarters in Europe to get permission, so we said lets move on!
Off to Mangos Tropical Cafe where the female and male dancers along with the salsa music keep the crowds jampacked! This place has over 6 bars, and over 7 areas to hang out and every thing is jumping from 2pm through 4am in the morning. We met with David who embraced us and welcomed our crew to shoot live starting at 10pm. His only conditions was that there was no Porn or Nudity in our video footage. So later that night it was on and popping at Mangos where we hooked up with over 15 industry folks who came by show us support. Including and not limited to Block Royal, Don Dinero, 950 Plus, T-Weaponz, DJ Cause, DJ Sincero, Lynx, E2K Magazine, Tony, Apache, and a shit load of folks I could not remember. However - you can check the pre recorded live stream here.
On day 2, it was up early to head to the Latin Urban Mixx, where we teamed up with Strong Arm Radio and the DJs to stream a live video broadcast. Big up to Casper and crew who welcomed us like family even though they were also streaming live audio. There was free Henessey and food in the building, and lots of great people to network with. Probably the most important part of the event was the Radio/DJ Panel where we got into a very powerful discussion on the current state of music, the radio industry, and the latin market in Hip Hop. Obviously, many of the artists in the room felt it was radio's fault for not playing their record as to the reason why latins in hip hop are not succeeding. However - the panel always brought it back to the fact that music has to be better. Dj Laz was saying thay "99% of music today sucks!".
Don Dinero definitely had to step in and represent for the artists that were there. Don is the Latino version of Jay Z. The brother reps Block Royal and is a cool dude. Don stepped in on behalf of all the artists to discuss how Reggaeton and Latins in Hip Hop have no leadership. He referred to Don Omar and Daddy Yankee who fueded over the last couple of years in an already dead Reggaeton industry that did not allow anyone else into the game. The clear thing that was stated on behalf of most in the room was that the Reggaeton and Latin Hip Hop sound is just transforming now but no one know where it is going?
Traditionally - Reggaeton had the same Dem Bow beat that every record has, and many folks on the panel clearly stated that this sound is not something the radio stations will play today. In fact, they indicated that that the same dembow sound and same artists are in fact what killed the genre and caused all the radio stations to shutdown. One of the more memorable panelists were DJ Laz of Miami, Jesse Terrero, Microsoft Zune Marketing Director, DJ Camillo, and Pitbull's Executive Producer. To summarize, the event was incredibly positive and we even scooped up some DJs who want to get on our show. So you will be hearing more from them in a minute. The night ended with Dinner, A Fashion Show, and the Latin Urban Mixx DJ Awards. Later on that night, we recorded a live broadcast at Chocolate's place off the Miami strip with our man DJ Unique from the 305.
DAY 3
So here came the final day we waited for which was the day of Calle Ocho. This year we set up shop at the Pitbull stage on Southwest 7th street, and the North East end of Calle Ocho. EG Radio was back stage and on the stage broadcasting live video over the net where atleast 5,000 spectators gathered within a 3 - 4 block radius to see the performances. Several acts performed on the stage including Notch, Jimmy Flavorr, THC Crew of Florida, DJ Laz, KC (Florida R&B Singer), NORE, Nina Sky, T Weaponz, and the man of the hour Pitbull!!
Some of the most notable performances were from Jimmy Flavorr, Notch, and DJ Laz. Needless to say - Pitbull is Mr. 305 and he tore the place down went he shut it down at the end. Soo much that a riot broke out right before Pitbull went on stage. The place started to erupt in some violence and barricades falling and reaching to the back stage and press areas. I was broadcasting live until the barricades fell and I had to get the hell out of there before our equipment and ourselves get crushed. Never the less, Myk Jones stood capturing some more footage of the Pitbull performance for a couple of minutes more, before we left.
After the event the EG Radio team had dinner at an excellent cuban spot in South Beach where we met up with an old time friend from the hood and talented rapper Charlie Hustle. Charlie just recently did a joint with Rick Ross called get it which you can listen to here. After that we headed off to Mango's and Wet Willies where we enjoyed some Call A Cabs, and it was a wrap!
Well its 8:30 am in the morning and we went to sleep at 3am, so we are all undergoing some major sleep deprivation. The Latin Urban Mixx yesterday was off the hook. We streamed a live video broadcast, and interviewed every major player in the game. Some of the industry heavy weights included DJ Camillo, Jesse Terrero (Video Director for 50 Cent's videos), Leila Sanchez (Billboard), DJ Laz (Power 106 FM in Cali), Mun2 (Mun Dos), and several more. Above is a picture of the panel, and Silvanna of MTV Tres who was helping us co host that day. The panel was a great discussion with Don Dinero of the Block Royal movement getting into some great controversial questions. Well we are off to Calle Ocho and the cabs are going to pick us up. We will be behind the stage with Jimmy Flavorr, Rick Ross, Pitbull, T Weaponz, Fat Joe, and many more. We will be doing our best to stream live so tune in!
