So who is Mancini? Well if u ask anyone in New York City's hip hop scene they will tell you he is one of the most promising mcs/songwriters on the radar in New York's underground movement
He is a 2 time underground music award nominee and his grind is undeniable!! Mancini hails from Bushwick Brooklyn and is of sicilian descent. Definitely no newcomer to the game. His first big introduction to the game was back in 2000 with the smash single "Que tu Quieres” produced by the legendary hit producer DR Period whose produced everyone from MOP to AZ, Papoose, and Smoothe The Hustler. The single featured Papoose and Trigga Da Gambler and instantly became a hit on Hot 97's show, the 5 o'clock free ride hosted by (DJ Red Alert). The single was picked up by AV8 Records and was a hit in many places such as Florida, Texas, etc.. At this point mancini began producing and releasing independent mixtapes with the help of his manager and fellow Real Lyphe Members.
Mancini has not only solidified himself as not only a exceptional songwriter but a die hard lyricist! A more current and also well respected release of his mixtape is called "The Knock Out King" (Volume 1) that has such guests host as Mister Cee, DJ Camilo , and DJ Ted Smooth. This is the mixtape that gained Mancini his underground music award nomination for best male rapper in 2006 and again in 2007. Most recently graced the front of Allhiphop.com with his new single’that incredible hulk’ bein nominated as heater of the day! he’s currently stayin busy performing in various venues around NYC and abroad!!
Currently Mancini is in the studio working on his next mixtape "The Knockout King - Volume 2" and his forthcoming album has yet to be titled! So keep ya ear to the streets, your eyes on the game, and make sure to block yourself at all times cause Mancini is is here to deliver the knockout that even former middleweight champion and legendary Italian boxer Boom Boom Mancini couldn’t deliver!!
Coming at you straight from Bushwich, Brooklyn, Sun, Earth, Moon-One (SEM-One) is the real deal. SEM has been pursuing his musical career for 6 years looking up to such influences as B.I.G., NAS, Big Pun, Mobb Deep, Redman, Jay-Z, O.C, Nirvana, The Doors, and his own Brooklyn Streets. He has spent the last 6 years developing a unique sound which has lead to his iTape, “One Foot In The Game/ One Foot In The Grave, an album which includes a photo gallery, album art work and the music video for “Elevator Musick” the first release from his album. Creative, Innovator, Entrepreneur and MC are just a few words that describe this young man. I like the fact that he is not scared to experiment in any music genre, he would love to collaborate with Fergie, I thinks that’s a good look right there. SEM-One is what’s up. If you want more information on him you can contact him at: www.myspace.com/semoneonline www.theitape.com www.youtube.com/semoneonline
You will hear alot from this kid in 2008. We have been rocking his new single "Say Yeh" on our last couple of Episodes of ExtravaGangsta Radio. Check out Episode 116 for his new single.
So who is DV Alias Khryst? Well I have personally been hearing about this cat for over 3 years now, and whether it was through a mix tape or industry contact - this cat is doing his thing. Our man Valentine of VMG Promotions put us on to DV's recent movements, and we decided to feature DV on our Artist on The Grind Series since the dude is something serious!! D.V. Alias Khryst is no newcomer to the industry. He can be heard on De La Soul’s, Art Official Intelligence/Mosaic Thump album, on the smash record - “Thru Ya City" which is in the new video game "True Crime Story's New York City". He has worked with the likes of Ice T while making the score of the movie entitled Made - starring P. Diddy, and the H.B.O series - Sexy in the City.
If that is not enough, this brother managed to secure an Independent deal with Koch records, and a Major Distribution deal with Universal Music. If this brother is not on his grind, then I wouldn't know who is in this game. With record sales declining, and rappers now starting to feel the economic realities of this business - DV has managed to secure his future in the game while managing to retain a positive and reputable reputation in the business. Hands down, our man DV is making things happen in 2008 and he is poised for success in the game overall. Although the game has been good to DV, he manages to stay humble in the game while clearly expressing that his son, and the lord Jesus Christ are Krhyst's major influences. Feel free to preview, download, and bless your self with the joint below entitled Swag Tag. Hit us up with some feedback if you are feeling this joint, and be sure to visit DV's web site at: http://www.myspace.com/dvaliaskhryst
If you didn't tune in for the Myk Gunz live show, i gotta say you definitely missed out! Despite a little bit of a sound problem it was banging, drink, good music, it had it all (you would of never known you can have that much fun in a kitchen.).
Ras got on the Myk and did his thing, Jones was hitting on EG groupie of the year, Me and King Klast were doing our thing on the chatter box, Myk Gunz of course smashed every track on his mix tape,(download it now) Ace was skankin it out on the dance floor, even Lynx even did a lil dutty whine!
What else went down, ooh the people have voted on Derek's new name "Derek the oral master diesel." The only thing we needed was a bit of forty master, he would of put the groupie love straight, one word for that....SCANDALOUS.
Anyway people next week will be just as good if not better, so tune in! I might try again next week but 7 am, serious hard work man.
ps download the myk gunz mix tape 21 gun salute, i personally think its better then most albums i heard last year.
One of rap's most anticipated new kings has now positioned himself within reach of the music industry's listeners and luminaries. He arrives on the scene, by way of Staten Island, in the form of a quick-witted, dynamic young emcee by the name of Antonio Charneco III, aptly known as AC to the masses. At 22 years old, AC has already attained the popularity and successes that many artists wait years to achieve—as an artist, writer, and producer. Armed with cannonball-like rhymes that never cease to shock and astound listeners, as well as with support from the most solid names in the industry, it is already clear that AC can be regarded as a permanent fixture in the Hip Hop game.
Aside from maintaining dignitary status amongst mixtape DJs and fans, AC can be credited for having created a stir within the music industry this past year with the release of his controversial track, The Truth About The Industry, to national audiences. The Truth boldly confronts the debatable, yet ongoing practice of rhyme biting in Hip Hop which most emcees tend to shy away from addressing. "Hip Hop started with borrowing," states AC. "Everyone's guilty of it." The track hit national airwaves in a matter of hours from being recorded, and quickly snagged frequent rotation by America's hottest mix shows DJs, including DJ Khaled and DJ Spinbad. "I knew the concept was crazy, and it worked well with what's going on in Hip Hop right now," AC recollects. "I don't do things for gimmicks; I only write what I feel."
As for AC's background in the mixtape scene, he has firmly established his presence in the game and demonstrates time and again that, lyrically, he simply cannot disappoint. With features on over 300 mixtapes of heavyweights like DJ Envy (Hot 97), Big Mike, DJ L, and Tapemasters Inc, AC has earned himself a solid and devoted fan base. It has been, however, AC's constant support from Tapemasters Inc which has given him the countless opportunities to propel his career to greater levels. He recently released his anticipated self-titled solo debut, appropriately named This Is AC. Hosted by DJ Envy, This Is AC features tracks produced by the late J. Dilla, as well as some of the industry's most talented up-and-comers. The immense success of This Is AC now makes way for his upcoming sophomore project, titled This Is AC, Part II: Staten Lives, hosted by Big Mike, DJ Smallz, Mick Boogie, and DJ Skee.
In the early summer of 2006, AC released to the public a cultural music masterpiece that showcased his aptitude as a producer. This project was Twins — a compilation commemorating the Hip Hop lyrics of Christopher "Big Punisher" Rios and the music of salsa legend Hector Lavoe—declared a classic by publications including XXL, Scratch, and Latin music's magazine Bridgez. Tying together two very separate eras and musical genres, Twins encompasses the essence of Latino music in America, as well as New York City's Puerto Rican culture. AC, of Puerto Rican-American background, along with fellow producer Popular B debuted Twins at the 2006 Puerto Rican Day Parade on New York City's Fifth Avenue to directly introduce the project to its core audience. "Latino culture is blowing up in America and the Puerto Rican Day Parade is a celebration of that" proclaims AC. "It was time for someone to pay tribute to our heroes."
With new artists entering the Hip Hop scene every day, and repping the wide range cities from which they came, New York remains the city known for shaping the lives and, ultimately, the careers of many of the music industry's hall-of-famers. But while emerging from the most hype-free borough in New York City—Staten Island—AC forces audiences to take a fresh look at his borough, and at New York City as a whole. With his newest project subtitled Staten Lives, the Brooklyn-born, Staten Island-raised AC attributes his upbringing and life experiences in the borough to the successes he has experienced to date. Perhaps one of the most anticipated artists to emerge from Staten Island since members of the Wu-Tang Clan, AC is more than prepared to assume his position as the borough's newest ambassador of Hip Hop.
AC masters the maxim that relentless perseverance, not solely raw talent, is key in reaching levels of tenure and longevity in the entertainment business. Not one to back down from challenges, AC finds it necessary to literally thrive on them in order to attain measurable success in an ever-evolving industry. He possesses the workhorse mentality of some of the most influential figures in music, a characteristic that becomes increasingly harder to find amongst the newest wave of artists. "I'm in the studio 24/7," he exclaims. "I'm just trying to do what I do and stay on my grind."
The future for artist/writer/producer AC holds a multitude of opportunities to further contribute his unique talents to the music business, and fans and critics can expect him to continue to bypass what is typically achieved or expected from an up-and-comer. Described as "one of the brightest stars on the rise" by multi-platinum producer Kwamé, AC continues to keep listeners alert with eye-opening rhymes, and never resorting to clownish lyrical content. "I don't want to worry about anything other than the music." Want more? Check him out at thisisac.com

NYOIL is a multitalented Artist who not only writes and produces but also is an accomplished spoken word artist, photographer, Graffiti artist, Dancer, Song Writer, and taught himself how to produce his own videos. We also know that his first video was banned on Youtube after the first 48 hrs with over 5,800 views. Check it out and once you've experienced the real IDEAL read more below about NYOIL. Warning This is Graphic yall should all get lynched
1) What is your mission with your music and what would you like your fans to get out of your music?
My primary mission is to make good music. That speaks to real life situations that people are experiencing all the time. I want to be able to take this artform and do some inventive stuff with the music. Make people scrunch their faces when they hear what I did like WHAT???.. he did WHAT?!?!.. I love this music so i just want to honor it and make great songs. While doing that it is important for me to bring honor and dignity to my people via this music. It is important that black men take this medium and this opportunity to define themselves for themselves. Too many people have these images of us that WE have allowed to prosper and spread by selling out and buying into them. NYOIL has come to stand up for his people and prepare us to be an international people and be respected and regarded as the original people of this planet. But first we have to live up to such a title.
2) When did you know that this is what you wanted to do?
Before I knew IT was what I wanted to do. I had an opportunity to speak with Dr. Joyce Brothers once. I asked her how she felt to have become a celebrity Dr. She said something very interesting that sort of answers this question. She said that most of the accomplished people she has spoken with have all said that very early on .. even if they did not know what they were going to be they knew they would be great at it. I always knew i wanted to be a leader and an entertainer of some sort.. and this is how it manifested for me.
3) What motivates you? My family. Specifically my children. My people and our need for positive direction en mass. My all consuming love for this hip hop culture.
4) Where do you see yourself in 5yrs? Running a multi media company that stays on the cutting edge of New technology and trains motivates and employs people from all genres. I see myself as a real estate investor regentrifying my peoples neighborhoods and providing the sort of living conditions that greatness is born from. I would also like to be in a position to at least begin to create a Prep school or be in the planning process.. I recently visited one that I am trying to get my youngest son into. When i visited it.. it struck me like a TON of bricks.. that THIS was the major difference between us and them. This school had like 16 kids to a class.. a focused curricilum and a great location. It was so overwhelming that my sons posture changed while in the building. It made me realize how important education has to be in order to salvage the condition of minorities here and internationally. My name is NYOIL and I approve this message
This weeks Artist on The Grind is our man Alvare!! Alvare has been grinding for years in the NYC Latin Hip Hop scene including winning awards for the Best Latin Hip Hop artist at the Underground Music Awards, spins on local radio, EG Radio, plus performing in nearly every club in the NYC/NJ tristate area. On top of that, Alvare has been instrumental in bringing Latin Hip Hop to the forefront in NYC while holding it down with his partners in crime T-Weaponz and Defiant Entertainment.
Fresh off his victory for Best Latin Hip-Hop Artist for the 2006 Underground Music Awards in NYC, there is nothing but positive remarks you can say about this young latino in the music industry. He has been able to blend a unique sound through beats and rhymes heavily influenced through his rich latin cultura. His ability to touch individuals with his uplifting real to life music has left many to praise him for his accomplishments and others to become supporters of his movement. The drive, determination, and motivation leave a lasting impression on those who meet him.
On top of his determination, and motivation - Alvare is also one of the few Latin rappers out there that possess a Bachelor and Master Degree. In this day in age of Hip Hop's declining sales, Alvare hustles with both his Hip Hop, School, and Work Grind. A pure definition of a Latin Brother truly grinding!! Through his music and business ventures, Alvare has been performing and visiting Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, United Kingdom, London, Netherlands, France, Italy, Israel, Brazil, Lebanon, and Japan.
Check out Alvare's videoz below and be sure to check for his new mix cd entitled "My Life is Like a Movie" in stores now!! Preview his new joint below or Download the Mp3 off his latest Mix CD entitled "We Taking Over (The NYC Remix).
This week's official Hip Hop Artists on the Grind are DEM BOYZ T-Weaponz!!! These dudes don't really need an introduction as they have a long standing history in the Hip Hop community! They went from Brooklyn to the Billboard charts with a Number 7 Billboard charter in 2006, they are literally the only Boricua Rap Group in History to accomplish such a goal.
Most recently - T Weaponz has been featured on Mun2 (A national Cable TV station aimed at young Latinos in the United States and is owned by NBC Universal), they rocked with ExtravaGangsta Radio at Calle Ocho this year back in March, they were featured on ExtravaGangsta Radio's Latino's in Hip Hop forum, they just won the 2007 Underground Music Award for most dynamic group in Hip Hop, they have been featured in nearly every Hip Hop publication out from the Source Magazine to AllHipHop.Com. Needless to say, these cats are grinding and are currently touring the states rocking crowds with an excellent show.
T-Weaponz & Alvare At The Underground Music Awards
Be sure to check for their up coming album "Just Begun" which is slated to drop on September 25th, 2007. Their MySpace Site at http://www.myspace.com/tweaponz has all of their latest tour dates and locations. T-Weaponz will also be joining us at the ExtravaGangsta Radio Digital Platinum Party on August 25th, 2007. Big up to Alvare for hooking us with the new tracks from the upcoming album.
This week I wanted to Highlight some truly inspiring Artists on The Grind that are outside of the Hip Hop Genre!! Why you ask? Because lately - Hip Hop Music has really sucked!! Thats right!! Tell the world that Ras of EG Radio said it!! I love the Hip Hop Culture. But as Lynx and I were discussing earlier - Hip Hop music sucks today. There simply is not enough creativity, and raw talent. Too much of what we hear today is manufactured! Street Credibility outweighs your talent. It's no wonder why Hip Hop Sales are going down! So what does this business need? I would say some more original and raw talent like Rodrigo Y Gabriela who are a Mexican musical duo who specialize in playing fast, rhythmic acoustic guitars. These guys are truly talented and there is nothing manufactured about them. Just listen to the way they rock those guitars!! They have been touring the world for years, they were just featured on MTV's Artist of The Week, and they truly are on their GRIND because unlike Hip Hop artists - they have been in the music business for years.
Simply put - you can't buy this kind of talent! You either have it or you don't!! So the challenge will be for our Hip Hop Artists, our culture, and the business of Hip Hop to begin championing change in the way Martin Luther King did for Civil Rights or the way Hector Lavoe transformed the Salsa genre in the 70's. What we have been accustomed to, needs to change. To find out what kind of change is required, be sure to tune into this week's Hot Topic where we will discuss Hip Hop's declining sales, it's monotony, and talk through what kind of change is required to revive Hip Hop. It's time to raise the bar people!!
Check out this months Industry Dime on the Grind - Barbara La Guerrera (The Warrior) as ExtravaGangsta Radio chopped it up with the sexy latina songstress with some serious heat!!
Barbara has been grinding her music nationwide and locally in NYC, quite often always being at the Industry events where she has kicked it with us at ExtravaGangsta Radio. She is a Puerto Rican urban vocalist and songwriter from New York City whose grinding and talent has led her song “Temperature Rise” to getting radio play on Hot 97fm from DJ Funk Master Flex, ExtravaGangsta Radio, as well as other radio stations. Check out an exclusive interview with our lady and download some of her tracks below!! Name: Barbara La Guerrera aka The Warrior
Hometown: Originally from Bedstuy, Brooklyn, but moved to Jamaica, Queens when I was a child.
Relationship Status: I'm taken and head over heals in love ... His name is MUSIC! :)
Occupation: Singer & Songwriter ( so done with these 9 to 5's lol)
Tell us Anything Interesting About You?
Well for some crazy reason a lot of people I've come across thus far assume I'm a "diva aka Bitch". All because I'm an artist and my name is Guerrera lol. It's truly funny & bugs me out. Most of the time when I meet people especially those in the industry, as we are conversing they usually tell me the same thing ..."Your so humble... I was expecting someone totally different." Well so sorry to disappoint ya"ll lol. I' am actually a very down to earth person, like to help those I can, try to be positive, a bit of a clown, love to dance and always with a smile.
Any Hobbies?
Growing up I was a big tom boy and really into sports. Back in the days you would find me at the handball courts singing and distracting the players. Which resulted in my favor because when it was my turn to play, they assumed I was this small little hummingbird with no game. Then to their surprise was hustled for their money lol I was kind of a bad ass, up until I started going to church. Which resulted in me becoming a youth server for a few years, singing in churches and retreats all over NYC.
Besides singing with the youth group I was also performing in different venues and with bands. I could not afford music lessons, so I tried to involve myself in as much as possible to learn and prepare myself, which definitely helped mold me into the person I am today.
Favorite Music:
I love all types of music. As a I child I would go to the library & thru my families collection of music and spend hours every single day listening to blues, r&b, jibaro folk music, salsa, Indian music, reggae and even country. Whatever is sweet to my ears ..I'm listening :) I do not discriminate I love it all!
Favorite Food:
That's a tough one! I'm a thick Gal .... I'm not too picky...just like with my music I love it all! LMFAO. But if I have to pick a Fav... Definitely the food from my little Island Puerto Rico... Just thinking about the different dishes makes my mouth water LOL!
Favorite Aspect about Your Grind?
I'm definitely a "Dime who Grinds" and works hard for her's.. A true Guerrera! There's a lot to my grind I appreciate and I' am very grateful for. There's nothing better then the Good vibes I get off of the public.. "My People (Mi Gente)" when they embrace me & my music. That love and positive energy gives me the fuel to keep going when the road is extremly bumpy. Everyone has gifts to bare ..mines is Music! I can only imagine when I'am signed to a major deal and my voice is heard all over the world :) Even then my grind will never stop!
What do you dislike the most about the business?
The POLITICS! I'm sure everyone has heard that term before. It's definitely a shame, but nothing comes easy. There's too many snakes in this business, but you have to be fearless & fight for what you want. Personally I'm like the Virgin Mary stepping on these serpents heads....so they can keep coming! That's why my people (public) gave me the name Guerrera (Warrior) I'm aggressive & a fighter. There's no doubt in my mind, I will get where I'm destined to be. Only a matter of time! I ain't going nowhere just up baby! :)
What do you feel you can bring to the business that will distinguish you from the rest?
I'm like food seasoning... without it just doesn't taste the same lol. I have a lot of different flavors I bring. For instance, not many people can write & sing r&b over a hard hip hop beat then go caribbean and rock a reggae track, then bust out into a salsa tune. I like to spice things up a bit and use all the musical influences that inspired me growing up in the music that I create. From my experience, I appeal to so many distinctive crowds because I'm unique in that sense. I do it from the heart and so far I've gotten very good responses from the public, artists/musicians, radio etc... :)
If you had a dream job, what would it be?
I'm working on getting my dream "Job" LOL :)
Any advice to give to young ladies pursuing their dreams in the Entertainment Business?
Ladies do not sell your souls to the devil! Love yourself, trust in God above all things, be positive and stay strong. Work hard, grind it out and don't let anything stop you. Nothing is impossible! Always show love to your fellow sisters. We do not have it easy in this field in particular, so let's UNITE and be a strong force! Palante!
