President Chavez of Velenzuela Kicks It with Naomi Campbell

President Chavez of Velenzuela does not like George Bush at all, but he is making moves with some of Hollywood's top entertainers. Most recently Naomi Campbell, and he has also met with Sean Pean. One thing that is unknown is what is Chavez' agenda. Many Americans like Chavez' style of leadership, and since he has taken an interest in U.S Entertainment, he naturally gets alot of Press in the U.S. I think this his way of smacking Bush in the face. On the other hand, no one really knows what the stars are getting out of it other than the fact that they have taken a keen interest in the leader. We will see how this plays out. There is Hip Hop & Billy Joel in Vancouver, Canada

As some of you know, when I travel the world on business I usually check out the local scene to determine how influential is Hip Hop in each of the cities I visit. I am proud to report that during my stay in Vancouver, Canada this week there is evidence of a Hip Hop culture here. On a scale of 1 - 10 (10 Being the Highest) - The Hip Hop Culture scale is about a 6.

More interesting than that though is that Vancouver has a Red Light District from what I have been told. I will certainly find out what exactly this means and try to visit it before I leave. If it is anything like Amsterdam - that would mean legal prostitution, and legal weed smoking. I will keep you updated as I get to tour the town.

On an entirely different note though, I was hanging at the Bar at the Pan Pacific Hotel (Pictured to the Left) and we met the infamous singer Billy Joel. That is right, Billy Joel was hanging out at the bar with us. He was a cool dude, and although he did not want to take any pictures, we managed to get some shots and video of him at the bar. I will post them by end of week.

Surprise..Nas and The N Word Are under Attack

My people, mi gente..now here's a big surprise. Nas' album hasn't even come out yet and already the politicins are already taking a stance to fight the album being released. Que Diablos ( What the F***)? Is FREEDOM OF SPEECH on it's way out the door? Apparently assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries is requesting that the state comptroller withdraw pension funds totaling about $84 million.


Senor Jeffries said “It is time for Nas and other hip-hop artists to clean up their act and stop flooding the airwaves with the N-word.”

A spokesperson for the comptroller has said that the comptroller intends on asking Universal to stop the release of Nasir 's album set to be released December 11th 2007.

Nasir states “It’s probably going to make people uncomfortable. I don’t expect a lot of people to sell a record called ‘Nigger.’ Hopefully, people can open their minds up and lose some of their fear and deal with it. It’s just an album. It’s one piece of the many things I do, and this will be one of my favorite pieces.”

Senor Jeffries and the comptroller and our civil community leaders need to discuss the issues that are significantly more important than the title of Nas' album.

They need to get on the ball with the SUPERBUG/staph infection issues that took the life of a 12yr old brooklyn boy.

They need to address and arrive to a solution for police brutatlity. They need to help our public schools raise their standards of education so my daughter and many other children in the city don't have to spend 4 extra hours a week in school because the school is listed as a special needs school.

Why don't they address those problems? How could they devote so much time and energy on something so minimal as Nas' album title. I have a title for their A**es
"PETTY", yes I said it petty. Nas has the right to call his album whatever he likes and too bad if it offends some people ...don't buy it . Tell me one thing Senor Jeffries, how can you judge an album you haven't even heard yet?

My people , mi gente..the more I read or hear interviews with Lil Wayne , the more I am convinced

that he is truly one of the most intelligent rappers on the scene. So you all think you know what Gossip is about or rather who it is about? Lil Wayne ain't got time to beef or talk about anyone. Never That!! He is about his grind.

So what does Kim Kardashian have to do with Hip Hop and ExtravaGangsta Radio? Well - maybe she can be featured on our Industry Dime on The Grind section, or perhaps she is just simply the next Socialite Diva to sleep her way to the top. I am still somewhat confused about posting about her but I have to respect her Grind. Aside from the fact that Kim is known for doing a porn tape with Ray Jay (Brandi's Brother), she now has her own Reality Show, and for some reason I always hear her name when I am out at Hip Hop Music Industry events.

She is certainly doing something right as she just made the cover of Playboy Magazine. Since she seems to assimilate with the Hip Hop community as well as the likes of all entertainers and actors in Hollywood, I think she is going to be Hip Hop's next socialite diva joining the ranks of Karine Stephans, Rita Guerrero, Gloria Velez, and several others who slept their way to the top of the Hip Hop Entertainment Biz. WebSite Oink Busted For Alleged Mp3 Distribution

Just recently, BBC filmed a bust of popular web site www.oink.com which allegedly distributed illegal music content online. However - many are saying that the founder of Oinked operated a search engine that is no different than Google.

New York Times Talks About Jam Master Jays Death

It was just over 5 years ago on October 30th, 20002 when Hip Hop Pioneer Jam Master Jay was shot to death in his recording studio in Queens. 5 Years later there are still no convicted suspects in the killing and everyone who was there that night of his death are still not talking.

New York Magazine Talks To Frank Lucas & Nicky Barnes: The Original American Gangsters

I just checked out the offical bit torrent version of American Gangster and all I can say was that the movie was excellent. Until seeing this movie I always thought Nicky Barnes ruled the streets back then. However, I did not realize that there was another king of Harlem called Frank Lucas also. In fact, Nicky and Frank were drug rivals back then.

In any case, these two former Kingpins (Nicky Barnes & Frank Lucas) are still alive and they apparently came out of retirement to talk business. Both Frank Lucas and Nicky Barnes recently spoke with New York Magazine about the new film "American Gangster", Their views on Hip Hop, as well as reminiscing about the old days and whether they were truly rivals. Internet Album Leaks - The Best Marketing Tool For The Music Business

Just recently, Lil Wayne talked to MTV News about his projects leaking on the Internet prior to it's debut and it appears that he is finally embracing the leaks. He went on to tell MTV that the Carter III will have "bionic" versions of the songs that leaked which will have new lyrics, in addition to some new songs. Lil Weezy is clearly demonstrating that he is embracing the leaks by being creative around those tracks in which were leaked while still generating an interest of his fans. Similarly, Alternative Rock group Radio Head - put their music online for free and offered their fans a Pay What You want model.

The more and more I am hearing about albums and films being leaked premature to their release dates, the more I think it is being done intentionally. We already learned that American Gangster leaked last week, and over the summer of 2007 there were several albums and singles that leaked in Hip Hop including releases from 50 Cent, Kanye West, Common Sense, and Talib Kweli. It is worth noting that all of these artists experienced either a #1 Billboard debut, Platinum or Gold Sales, or significant exposure as a result of the leak. Hence - the proof that leaking your album can prove in positive sales without any cost or expense to an artist or record label.

On the other hand - Hip Hop Artists Trina and Lil Weezy who were once a couple, have also had their material leaked during the summer of 2007. As a result, Trina's new single "Single Again" is blazing the Internet and Terrestrial Radio Airwaves. In addition, she is on every blog or Hip Hop web site every week. I have been following Trina since her Slip and Slide debut over the last 7-10 years. I have to say that this is the most exposure I have seen her ever get. Not even when she popped off with "Naang Nigga" was she getting this much exposure. Meanwhile, Lil Weezy dominates the airwaves in Southern Radio stations, he has successfully manage to get New York on his side with the streets loving Weezy, and he continues to stay in the news daily. There is no denying that you have not stopped hearing about him all year round in 2007.

I would argue that leaking a single or album is by far the best marketing tool an artist or the music business has. Especially for the caliber of artists like Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, and Kanye West. The traditional ways to market a record is to pay your way into getting local radio airplay. Labels spend countless hours and dollars making calls to all press and radio outlets, while the artists are forced to create a national interest in their music by spending 80% of their time on the road doing promotional tours.

Why not just put the music out and let the internet push the music across the world creating a much larger interest globally? Just look at the File Sharing Trends Globally these days as reported here as a problem, but I think it is a solution. Leaking your project can be a great marketing tool for the artist. Just merely stating to the press that your album or single was inadvertently leaked can have the Internet going nuts. This will get all the bloggers and internet viewers interested as they go to download it, share it, and before you know it you have millions of people who have taken an interest in your project.




While traditional methods still can work, we know that it does not promise results. The R.I.A.A will tell you that over the 35,000 records released yearly in the U.S, less than 1 percent actually turn a profit. So when you watch the next BET or MTV Music Awards, you are literally looking at less 1/3 of the 1 percent of the music industry who has actually managed to make a profit. Putting things in that context may want to make you rethink having a career in music all together.





If Lil Weezy or Kanye were reading this article, I would tell them that they are better off leaking their album 1 month prior to its release to see better promotional and sales results. If their record label were reading this, I would say that their is more ROI (Return on Investment) from leaking a project on the net than than buying a $5,000 per page ad in the Source Magazine or Paying FunkMaster Flex to play a record on Hot 97. Save those dollars for advertising on EG Radio Online - The Number 1 Hip Hop and Latin Urban Podcast and Radio Show online!

Just today Lynx, Myk Jones and I recieved an email from one of our loyal listeners from Angola Africa named Olivier. Olivier regularly listens to our show from Africa and after hearing Episode 102 where we gave him a shout and talked about Keith Murray being robbed in Africa, Olivier wrote us. His email is below and he briefs us on how other U.S Rappers got robbed in Africa, the current music scene in Africa, as well as what Ghetto life is really like in Africa when you compare it to the United States. Attached is his email for your review:

"I just wanted to keep you updated of what’s happened and happening here in Angola. Lately we had the american R&B singer Joe here with us. He performed in a special concert for the Ladies joining local ladies artists.It was kind of cool but we here we are down with RAP.

So far guys who came here to perform here in Angola this year were: Jay-Z (The best concert ever occurred), 50 Cent (Ultimatum concert!!! It was full starting from the airport , traffic jam in the Hotel just to see the G-UNIT leader). Actually, 50 was here when he and friend Tony Yayo had problem there when Yayo assaulted Jimmy’s son. We had also this year The Game.

The rapper who comes here most often is Busta Rhymes and some of the Flipmode Squad members. Actually Busta Rhymes was the first rapper who grounded here. People could not believe!!!. Others rappers who were are Missy Elliot, DMX, Fat JOE, Ja Rules, Redman, Ludacris, Eve.

As for rappers getting robbed here, Keith Murray was not the only one. JAY-Z had his PDA robbed while he was embracing the crowd (fan). Ask Jay-Z and his crew who where here, they know what’s mean a “ghetto”.

As for South Africa, this is a place where crime lives and sleeps. Last week hijackers killed a well known reggae singer Lucky Dube http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucky_Dube, I mean even a blind could recognize this guy. It’s a place where a robber can smack you even kill you if he found you with a crappy cellphone.At the same time it is a beautiful country."

Losing A Loved One To Those Who PROTECT and SERVE

My people, mi gente...I have been away for a few days but I am back, and up on the current events that affect our communities. I am sure by now, everyone has heard about the officer who got arrested after confessing that he killed...

In a coloring book on safety that my Lil Lynx brought home from school, there was
a page, (the last page of the coloring book) with an officer with his arm around a little girl and underneath the picture it said "A Police Officer is your friend"
This is the last message this safety coloring book wanted to get across to children, in other words, you can trust a police officer because he is your friend. A friend who will help you if you are lost or in trouble. Most of us parents tell our children if they are ever lost, or are in trouble or hurt to seek out the assistance of a police officer.

Why, as I stared at the page did I get a visual of the officer in the coloring book with his hands wrapped around the little girls neck, choking her?

Is it because I can never,
never
till the day I die, get the image out of my head of

Anthony Baez

being choked to death by an officer who became enraged that the football Anthony threw in the air ( he was playing football on the street in front of his home ) had hit the police car.

Or the image of Amadou Diallo

reaching for his wallet then feeling the bullets hit his body

or Gary Busch

answering his door, then running for cover, because he was greeted by the barrel of a gun...only to be shot in the back by a hail of bullets right in front of his mother's eyes,

or Sean Bell


smiling and laughing with his friends while getting into his car, on his way home to his children and Nicole, the woman he would marry in a few hours and in a matter of seconds ...52 bullets shattered the dreams and hopes of a young father and husband to be.

Not to mention the image of the last seconds of my brother life as life left his body ( I cannot go into detail about my brother's incident at my mother's request ) a strong young hard working father, dedicated to his family. My partner in crime ..gone , never to see , to touch , to hear laugh or to hug.


More prominent in my mind's eye are the images of the faces of Iris Baez, Kadi Diallo, Doris Busch,


Valerie Bell and


Nicole Paultre-Bell (Sean Bell's Fiance'/wife, on the very day she was to wed Sean)


as they were told that their loved ones were dead.

Could you imagine?

I was not present for all of the incidents I have described above but I was there when the police arrived to tell my mother that my brother was gone...

I saw the look of despair, of disbelief in her eyes.
I saw as her face contorted as if she were in excruciating pain.
I heard the cry of agony that escaped her lips.

I remember that she clasped her hands together so tight that her knuckles turned white and she placed them over her chest.

I remember hearing my father say "What,my son... James?" and watching him run to the bathroom and hear him throw up his shattered heart into the toilet bowl,

and for some reason my people,
at that moment,
I saw my brothers face
as it were when we were children,
hiding under the table with me after we had played a prank on my Aunt.
At that very moment, I could feel his hand covering my mouth as I giggled so that no one would find us.
At that moment, upon hearing that he was gone, I could feel his warm breath on my neck as he whispered to me "Shhh, they're going to hear us" and I could feel his hands brush my arms as he placed his newborn son into my arms and said " This is my son". Oh my people, I remember. I saw pieces of our lives flash before my eyes and I felt the tears flow down my face and they felt as thick as blood and I felt the lump in my throat fall to the pit of my stomach and rise back up my throat. I remember wanting to hold my mother , comfort her in some way but I could not move.
Mi gente, I could not breathe, I could not speak.

I remember our neighbor from upstairs Luis Ruiz (God bless you wherever you are Luis) run into our apartment and try to hold my mother up as her body crumpled to the floor as she sobbed in anguish and said over and over again "No please,not my James, not my son, Aye mi hijo (Oh my son)"

Oh Mommy, I could never know your pain and I never want to know your pain , my lil Lynx is my life ..I could not imagine..I could not imagine.

Now, imagine finding out that your loved one, who is no longer here, was an innocent victim of the very people who are supposed to protect and serve us.

Can you imagine?
The rage, the hurt, the shock ...the stifiling feeling of helplessness.

God Bless you all my people, mi gente...may you never ever know.

My condolences to the entire Tirado family, may justice be served.

** It is true what they say, one bad apple can spoil it for the whole bucnh. I do believe there are officers that do truly uphold and enforce the law, and really want to protect us...but everytime I hear some foul news like this it just creates animosity and a sense of distrust and fear of the police. Something must be done to prevent officers who have a history of aggressive behavior towards suspected criminals from staying on the force and continue to be a threat to innocent civilians. Psychiatric testing and special counseling and just punishment for their crimes against innocent civilians sentencing to the fullest extent of the law.

As I cannot erase the images like the ones I describe in my blog , I also cannot erase the images of officers carrying out victims from the World Trade Center on 911, holding small childrens hands and comforting grief stricken relatives and of officers paying the ultimate price for protecting us..true heroes.

My people, mi gente ...I am not against the whole police force. I am against the ones who abuse their position as well as the officers who do not value the lives of innocent civilians***

American Gangster Leaked Online & Over 10,000 Downloads In Less Than 20 Hours

The Internet is going nuts with the full release of American Gangster available via Bit Torrent clients or on PirateBay.Org. Reports indicate that in less than 20 hours of its release there were already 10,000 downloads. It is also rumored that the quality of the download is like a Retail DVD. Let's see in a couple of weeks on whether this will increase the sales of American Gangster in the Box office, or make it flop. Just judging by how Hip Hop music excelled with leaking albums on the net, something is telling me that American Gangster will be a success because of this. For the full story, click here.





50 Cent Disses Nas Once Again

Is it just me or is Curtis a sore loser? In a recent article published by VH1, 50 Cent goes on the record saying that "Nas Sucks" when asked about the title of Nas' new album entitled "NIGGA". In addition, he commented that Nas' approach to get shock value was "stupid", indicating "That is a stupid name.. its for shock value?"

It sounds like 50 is very dissappointed with his recent album sales. 50 just achieved Platinum after 6 weeks on the market, 6 singles, and 5 videos later. Expect the sixth single "Still Kill" to surface next week as there are video snippets of it on the web already. Meanwhile - Kanye hit double platinum with 3 singles and 2 videos. I still would not underestimate 50's power and hustle. If I were him, I would give up the rap game and keep hustling that Vitamin Water

that he should have been staying away from? My people , mi gente..Fifty se ha Vuelto Loco or should I say Loca ? Bueno lo que paso fue que- Fifty showed up at an event that Kanye West was performing at unannounced and I heard from a friend who was at that event that Fifty...

asked the crowd "Did you all come here to see Kanye" and the crowd cheered and then Fifty said " F**k that, am I still number one? " and the crowd didn't respond the way he expected so he said "Oh , ok, I understand this is what you all want" then he whipped out some white sunglasses and tied his shirt in a knot in the back and began doing the SHAKIRA meneo to Kanye's "STRONGER" and the crowd was cracking up. You know my people, the HIPS DON"T LIE and Fifty was doing the damn thang al estilo REINA. Que Viva La Riena Fifty. Long live the Queen!!!
Kanye kept his cool and when he came out he said " I know you all came out for a real show", and tore up the stage, and he came out with BEANIE SEGAL....wait let me rephrase that..he performed with Beanie Segal...um , let me rephrase that ... Que Rayos!! You people have your mind in the gutter.









Hip Hop Artist Domer out Of Brooklyn Announces Open Source Music Project

Now here is a newly inventive idea that deserves some recognition from Brooklyn-based indie-hop innovator Domer. Domer has decided to push the limits of technology and his music by inventing a whole new kind of interactive album that enables bloggers, and producers world wide to develop his next project.

The vocals for the five songs on his EP were recorded with no beat underneath, just rapped to a metronome and have been posted online for producers all over the world to run with.

Microsoft targets the Latin Music market as evident in their recent marketing collaboration with Reggaeton Duo "Wisin & Yandel". Here is the press release:

"MIAMI (Billboard) - Wisin & Yandel, the reggaeton duo with an uncanny knack for delivering hit singles, will become the first act to get its own customized Zune player, Billboard has learned.

The limited-edition Wisin & Yandel Zune device will hit Wal-Mart stores nationwide October 29, before the release of the duo's new album, "Los Extraterrestres," November 6. "

Location of The 2008 BET Awards Confirmed - At Elmira State Prison

I was talking to my boy FortyMaster about this, and he suggested that with the current roster of Hip Hop stars either facing jail time or doing time - we concluded that we would not be surprised if the next BET Awards will be in a state prison. We previously discussed a similar issue with so many rappers and entertainers facing jail time on Episode 104 in our news segment. With so many artists either doing jail time or facing jail time, it is not a very far fetched picture.

The location of the venue will be at Elmira State Prison, hosted by P.Diddy who has had enough money to manage to stay out prison despite his run ins with the law. Special performances by jail ready rap stars lik Lil Kim, Snoop Doggy Dogg, D.M.X, Beanie Siegal, Remy Martin, C-Murder, Cassidy, and much more. In the V.I.P section is our currently incarcerated rap stars including Prodigy of Mobb Deep who is doing a 3 year bid, Foxy Brown - who faces up to 7 years in Jail, and Messy Marv who just recently recorded an album while incarcerated, and Shyne who gets recording contracts while he is locked down. Also joining them are a host of other incarcerated rap stars like Chi Ali, Mystikal, and several others. For the full list click here.

A tribute to rappers O.D.B, 2 Pac, and Biggie is in order. The Gangsta Ahead of His Time Award will be presented by 50 Cent and will likely be presenting this to Chi Ali who was the first rapper to clap someone and get acknowledged for it. Security will be done by the NYPD and LAPD, in the audience are the 3,000 lifers from Elmira, and the after party will be in the yards of Elmira.

What a great way for Hip Hop to celebrate it's accomplishments - or lack of it? Perhaps this fictional depiction of what a Hip Hop Award show can turn to is not that very far fetched. If we allow this culture to accept unruly behavior like Foxy Browns, and let some of our brightest rap stars to end up in jail - then we will certainly be there soon. Stop trying to be so Gangsta and Make that Chedda!! Gangsta is about your swagger, not about how many dudes you clapped! Let us know your thoughts.

B&H Photo In NYC Sued for Discrimination Against Hispanics

Lynx Garcia passed me this news feature (which was sent to her by our people at salsamerengue.com) and I had to blog about it. This is something interesting right out of NYC and related to E.G Radio as well. Just over a couple of days ago the store B&H Photo in NYC which sells audio, and video equipment - settled a lawsuit for over $4.3 Million Dollars for allegedly underpaying its Hispanic Employees vs. their non Hispanic Employees who are predominately Jewish. As part of the lawsuit, B&H agreed to equalize the wages of its Hispanic employees to those of non-Hispanics, and to distribute $4.3 million (€3.04 million) to individuals who were paid less, not promoted, or denied benefits because they are Hispanic.

Some would think that it is hard to believe such injustice still exists in America. Especially in NYC where the population is incredibly diverse. Simply put - you would have a hard time being a racist in NYC. It is a melting pot of ethnicities and backgrounds. On another note you would assume that with agencies like the E.E.O and all the HR laws in the world you can think of, this can't happen. But it has. Seems like there maybe more Jena 6 examples to come in the near future at this rate. I hear echos of something along the lines of "The Washington Heights 7" who maybe the next 7 victims of police brutality or the next 7 underpaid but illegal Dominican employees who were mistreated by their employers and worked in horrid conditions.

So what does this have to do with E.G Radio? Well - Both Myk Jones and I were going to this store tomorrow to purchase over $2,000 in video and photo equipment for the show. As you may have noticed, we have been spending alot more time distributing video content. However - Interestingly enough, this articles pops up and makes us second guess our intent to purchase this at this store due to the way they have regarded and mistreated Hispanic employees. So should we purchase this equipment there or not? You tell us.

As for B&H Photo and its management, I would highly encourage that start promoting managers and employees based on skill sets and not race. Otherwise - they will end up with another lawsuit on their hands. However - what typical businesses do after this type of case is that they will promote maybe 1 - 2 Hispanics to their management team to make up for the mistake and to give the perception that they are doing the right thing by its Hispanic Employees. So Pablo from the Barrio in Harlem now may have the opportunity to manage the warehouse, but over the long term he probably will stay in that position for the rest of his life if B&H continues its unfair practices. If there were any good management there, I would get rid of the existing management team who cost the business 4.3 million dollars. In addition, they should probably get rid of the CEO who probably set the behaviors and the practice for the organization in the first place.

I'm not hating because I am sure Christina can cover the beauty and acting part of the role but wasn't Wonder Woman like an AMAZONA. Christina is bootyful mi gente but she is a little chihuahua!! I see someone like CATHERINE ZETA JONES or even EVA MENDES playing the role (Si Senor Miller, let's keep it Latina). There is Hip Hop In Ireland - UKs Top Rap Star Drops A Visit

As I flew into Dublin this week in a comfortable flight on Continental, I looked down at the city lights and said to myself there has to be Hip Hop in Ireland. Despite my previously posted statement about no Hip Hop in Clonakilty Ireland - it does appear that there is some Hip Hop in Ireland. I found a great site Called RapIreland.Com which features some great commentary and concert events with event a recent visit by 50 Cent this month. In addition, the big buzz appears to be around the United Kingdom's infamous and Banned Rap Star Lethal Bizzle. Lethal is doing a sold out concert in Dublin, Ireland. Although I am about 1,000 kilometers (approx. 800 miles) away from Dublin in a small Farm Town called Clonakilty, it does in fact that there is Hip Hop in Ireland. Husky Halloween

My people, mi gente...Halloween is just around the corner. Pumpkins,skeletons and witches adorn the windows and front yards of homes and project building doors. Mamis or Papis warning children not to eat candy that's unwrapped and telling them to wait till they get home to eat their goodies (right!!).
Ahh, the fond memeories of trick or treating , the joy to get to a house that actually gave out Snicker bars or M&M with peanuts. My only issue was that being a HUSKY girl my costumes were always ill fitted or tight and believe you me, trying to keep your costume together and hiking up steps to get your delicious treats was quite challenging (to say the least). I remember one Halloween I wanted to be...
... Wonder Woman so bad and Mami was trying her best to convince me to be a Gypsy, she told me we could use her skirt and bandana and she would put lots of make-up on me and I could carry around the snow Globe of New York City (that sat on the mantel in our living room) as my crystal ball and I could wear my sisters big hoop earrings and braclets from India and Tacon Alto (High heeled shoes). Uh-uh, there was no convincing me, I was gonna be Wonder Woman and that was that. So two weeks before Halloween we went shopping for my costume.

We all know that extra large really isn't EXTRA LARGE and One size really doesn't fit all, but poor Mami she got me the costume even though it just fit, (hopefully I wouldn't have to sit down), it was the vinyl suit with the ugly plastic mask with the eye peepholes, uncomfortable as hell but you couldn't tell me nothing. As far as I was concerned I was cute and I was gonna rack up on Halloween.

Well, Halloween finally came and wouldn't you know it, I had put on a few pounds and I was literally busting out of my costume. Mami looked like she wanted to cry but she was creative and made me wear my older sisters blue body suit so we could keep the back of the costume a little open and she send me off with my brother James (who was Dracula) and my two older sisters Nelly and Olga. Nelly took pleasure in telling me that I was popping out of my costume and refused to walk with me while Olga held on to the back of my costume for me while we walked and my brother told me not to worry, that Wonder Woman was supposed to be bigger and stronger than all the other girls and that I looked just fine to him. Then he popped his friend Berwin in the eye for laughing at me.

I think being a husky trick or treater had it's advantages, people would smile and laugh when they saw me approaching with my crooked costume and take pity on my chubby A** and give me more candy than the next kid but sometimes they would give me less ( guess they were trying to put me on a diet or something) I even had this lady give me candy and on second thought she pulled me back to her door and took some of the candy back while stating (with her heavy Spanish accent) "Aye que Gordita, chew don knee so mush kandee!!" My sister Nelly laughed and my sister Olga said thank you while rolling her eyes and my brother whipped out the shaving cream. My people , you all know I kept what she gave me but I had to spray shaving cream all over her gate and car for that comment.

Needless to say despite almost freezing to death (I had to dress light underneath my costume so it could fit) and some rude comments and lots of stair climbing, I racked up on all my favorite goodies and still thought I was cute, even though I had sat on somebody's stoop 10 blocks away from my house and busted my costume right down the middle. There was a full moon that Halloween night!!! Halloween was and always will be one of my favorite times of year.

Now that I am a Mami and my Lil Lynx is a potential trick or treater, I am happy to announce that I tried to convince her that we could go the homemade costume route (no, she's not all that husky just trying to save some cash) but she wants to be Hannah Montanna wig and guitar and all

(George Washington and Abe Lincoln are crying in my pockets as I am typing). So I came online to search the net and low and behold I came across a site that actually sold costumes for HUSKY children and Plus Size Adults...my how times have changed.


So I will try to convince Lil Lynx to be little Bo Peep, isn't it cute. While I'm going to be what I already know I am
A GODDESS..meow!!

Both I am happy to announce come in HUSKY and Plus Size....Happy Happy Joy Joy!!!

There Is No Hip Hop In Ireland!

I have finally confirmed this after my second trip to Clonakilty Ireland. While this place is great and filled with great farm land, scenery, and good Black Pudding (aka Morsilla in Spanish) I have finally validated that Clonakilty is one place in the world that has no Hip Hop Culture. Perhaps in Dublin, but this place is certainly a place that is your traditional small town with only 4,000 people. It is the kind of place where if you get pulled over for speeding, everyone in town knows about it. Never the less - this is a great place, and E.G Radio Online is here having a great time on Business.

For those who are from Clonakilty reading this - Prove me wrong please. Because as far as I am concerned - There is No Hip Hop in Ireland! This is a great place for all else though, but not much music! Attached is the scenary from the bar at the Quality Inn in Clonakilty. Cheers!!

Mi gente...Check out Perez Hilton's new look. This is what you look like after being hit in the face with two lawsuits (not bad considering..lol) This is not hip hop related but I am a blogger and all bloggers beware. El Baboso de los bloggers Perez Hilton is being sued by Britney Spears record label Zomba for copyright infringement. Perez apparently posted unreleased songs by Britney Spears on his famous website, sin permiso...tsk, tsk, he also is being sued by


Dj Samantha Ronson for defamation of charachter after Perez posted on his website that Dj Ronson was responsible for the cocaine found in Senorita Lindsay Lohan's car when she was arrested for driving under the influence. It is not clear how much Zomba is suing Perez for, but, Dj Ronson (esa chica esta que bota chipa!!) is suing him for 20 million dollars..ouch...aye yi yi. You think Perez puchned himself in the eye? Bueno bloggers be careful what you post. Perez you need a raw t-bone steak to put over that eye and then grill that sucker and bake a potato while you can because it just might be back to Rice and Beans for your ass.

1) What is your mission with your music and what would you like your fans to get out of your music?

My primary mission is to make good music. That speaks to real life situations that people are experiencing all the time. I want to be able to take this artform and do some inventive stuff with the music. Make people scrunch their faces when they hear what I did like WHAT???.. he did WHAT?!?!.. I love this music so i just want to honor it and make great songs. While doing that it is important for me to bring honor and dignity to my people via this music. It is important that black men take this medium and this opportunity to define themselves for themselves. Too many people have these images of us that WE have allowed to prosper and spread by selling out and buying into them. NYOIL has come to stand up for his people and prepare us to be an international people and be respected and regarded as the original people of this planet. But first we have to live up to such a title.


2) When did you know that this is what you wanted to do?

Before I knew IT was what I wanted to do. I had an opportunity to speak with Dr. Joyce Brothers once. I asked her how she felt to have become a celebrity Dr. She said something very interesting that sort of answers this question. She said that most of the accomplished people she has spoken with have all said that very early on .. even if they did not know what they were going to be they knew they would be great at it. I always knew i wanted to be a leader and an entertainer of some sort.. and this is how it manifested for me.



3) What motivates you?
My family. Specifically my children. My people and our need for positive direction en mass. My all consuming love for this hip hop culture.



4) Where do you see yourself in 5yrs?
Running a multi media company that stays on the cutting edge of New technology and trains motivates and employs people from all genres. I see myself as a real estate investor regentrifying my peoples neighborhoods and providing the sort of living conditions that greatness is born from. I would also like to be in a position to at least begin to create a Prep school or be in the planning process.. I recently visited one that I am trying to get my youngest son into. When i visited it.. it struck me like a TON of bricks.. that THIS was the major difference between us and them. This school had like 16 kids to a class.. a focused curricilum and a great location. It was so overwhelming that my sons posture changed while in the building. It made me realize how important education has to be in order to salvage the condition of minorities here and internationally.

Mychal Bell Returns To Prison

My people, mi gente...Mychal Bell returns to prison. It was only a short time he got to bask in the light as a free man. Seems Mychal had some trouble before the Jena Six case and is now being sent back to prison for 18 months. I do not advocate crime and if Mychal is guilty of a crime than he should do the time. Even when the Jena six
incident first came my way, I never..


was against the boys doing any time because of the beating of their white school mate , my beef with the whole matter was how quickly he was tried and sentenced and how severe the charges and the puishment were. Even now that I know he has a criminal past, I still question the manner in which this is being conducted. Why wasn't he tried and convicted as quickly for the charges back then as he was for this Jena Six incident? I don't know the details but I will find out because there are quite a few things that don't sit well with me concerning this. Nine Inch Nails and Madonna Drop Record Labels, and Why Should Hip Hop Care?

I stumbled across an interesting set of articles regarding both Madonna and Nine Inch Nails recently giving up on the strategy of needing a label to market their music.

Madonna opted to sign a $120 Million dollar deal with L.A Based Concert Promotion firm Live Nation to release 3 full and free albums to the public, promote tours and concerts, as well as retain the rights to Madonna name with licensing.

Just over 1 week prior to Madonnas venture, the highly popular Industrial Rock Band Nine Inch Nails have announced that as of today they are free agents, and will not be using the services of a record company in the future.

So what does this mean for Hip Hop Artists and Record Labels? Let's start with the labels. Simply put - Hip Hop Labels will no longer be in demand. In fact, I would say that 10 years from now their business model will change and the concept of selling CDs will be extinct. Labels will no longer be needed to produce, distribute, or manufacture the music. Instead they will be doing merchandising, marketing, and tour deals with their artists. The label will provided monies to the artist to market their music online, in the streets, etc. In exchange, labels will have more control over artist merchandising, publishing, proceeds from shows, and mechanical royalties. All of which - are earnings that the artist currently retains today.

Monies derived from record sales would be a thing of the past. Ringtones, Videos, and Music downloaded to mobile devices such as Cell Phones, iPods, and even at Home using Tivo - will increase in demand and consumers will gravitate more to these mediums.

So what does this mean for the Hip Hop Artists? Continue to do your mix tapes, but don't waste much time and money manufacturing 3000 CDs. Save these for show if anything, and dont expect CDs to be around 10 years from now. They will be gone.

Artist should simply put their music on their websites for free to the public. If your promoting an album, do the same thing and focus your efforts on selling your music on cell phones, iPods, and consumer related digital devices. It is only a matter of time before your listener party is going to be filled with a room of iPod enabled users with WiFi downloading your tracks while they listen to everything. Then after the party you can get a sense of what tracks people downloaded the most as they listened track for track.

Prodigy of Mobb Deep sentence to 3½ years

Rapper Prodigy pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a loaded gun Tuesday in a deal that will put him behind bars for the next 3-1/2 years.

The 32-year-old Queens native interrupted his trial in Manhattan Supreme Court to admit to owning the unlicensed .22-caliber pistol found in an armrest of his bulletproofed Chevy Suburban last October in Chelsea. Prodigy was busted on the gun charge after cops stopped him for making an illegal U-turn in Manhattan.

He forewent going to trial and took the first plea of 3½. He'll probably do 2 if he keeps himself out of trouble. What do you guys think?

Soulja Boy Debuts at #4 on The Billboard, Wins #1 Spot for Hip Hop

We talked about this last week in a blog post about Soulja Boy having the Internet going nuts with Googling his name and new cd. As a result, today - Soulja Boy makes #4 on The Billboard this week overall, but wins the #1 spot in Hip Hop. We were talking about this Kid over at Ice T and Filthee's video shoot Sunday and it appears that many in the industry see him as a ringtone rapper with a dance. However - he is doing something right. That dance bangs the clubs no matter where you go. On the other hand, Kanye West is at 1.4 million records sold, while 50 is struggling to hit Platinum.

Sean Bell..One Year Later

My people, mi gente...Can you believe we are coming up to a year since the day police officers opened fire on Sean Bell and his two friends? 50 shots heard around the world, 50 shots that would take the life of Sean Bell and wound his buddies, hours before his wedding day....

the families and friends of both Sean Bell and his fiance' Nicole Paultre, had to prepare for a funeral instead of a wedding. A young couple's dreams and possiblties cut short and their daughters Jordan and Jada made fatherless.

Above is the flyer for The Vigil being held in memory of Sean Bell. Please come out and support the families and let the powers that be know, that we have not forgotten our fallen brother Sean nor the injust excessive force used by the police or the justice we seek in Sean's name and many others like Sean, innocent unarmed citizens who have lost their lives at the hands of the police. RIP our brothers, our sons, our fathers- we will never forget you SEAN BELL, AMADOU DIALLO, ANTHONY BAEZ, GARY BUSCH and my brother JAMES GARCIA...and unfortunately, desgraciadamente many many more.

James Sabatino a former consultant for Bad Boy Entertainment. Sabatino agreed to sell the music and video for 200,000 dollars. Diddy had given Sabatino 25,000 up front , but, claims he didn't pay the rest beacause..
the Los Angeles police had named Sabatino a person of interest in Biggies death (Sabatino was supposed to meet biggie that night but had never shown up)

Beanie Siegel forgot to return his car rental, and as a result he needs to surrender to police on Monday morning because he is charged with Grand Theft. If you ask me this is just irresponsible on Beanie's part. I am not certain why he is driving a rental though? Shouldn't he be iced out in the Rolls Royce if your signed to the Roc? Breaking News: Lil Wayne Arrested In Idaho

Lil Wayne is busted after a concert in Idaho. Apparently Georgia Police phoned into the Boise Idaho Police department instructing the Boise Police department to arrest him based on previous drug felony charges. He was booked on felony charges of being a fugitive and wont see a judge till Monday. According to the local Idaho Newspaper, fans are calling the Police Station demanding that they let out Lil Wayne on Bond to conduct his concert. Apparently he is not eligible as of yet.

My people, Mi gente...Darfur is a subject that is close to my heart,...

I have been helping bring awareness to the awful , inhumane situation in Africa, for well over a year now. I have signed letters, petition, joined the coalation for Darfur at Washington Square Park with my 6yr old daughter Lil Lynx who wanted to sign the petition as well (which I allowed her to do) but I never felt that is was quite enough. I never wanted to use egradio as a vehicle to help bring awareness to Darfur, I felt that the images and subject were to dark and depressing for our listeners.

But, you our listeners, like to be informed and made aware of the realities in the world as well as the hip-hop world and www.egradioonline.com is a internet broadcast like no other, from our team members ,co hosts, sponsors to you our listeners, the people who we do this for, we are approaching the masses in a way no other internet broadcast has to date. I am truly blessed to have the opportunity and the power to spread knowlegde.

On Septmber 7th, 1996 Tupac was shot 4 times in a drive by shooting in Las vegas,Nevada. On September 13, 1996 Tupac sucumbed to the complications due to the shooting and died of cardiac arrest. Google Trends Predicts CD Sales of Soulja Boy

So I am doing my usual daily Google Top Trends search and Soulja Boy appears 3 Times in the Top 100 as follows:

35. Soulja Boy
81. Souljaboytellem.com
87. Soulja Boy CD

Google Trends rates the top most keywords searched on google within the day. Soulja Boy obviously had googlers going nuts as his album dropped today. In addition to his album, other CDs from J. Holiday, Trey Songz, & Boyz N Da Hood were released. The fact that he is the only rapper on Google Trends this week, tells me that he is very likely to win the 1st weeks sales race on next weeks Billboard Chart Debut amongst all other CDs. This was also evident when 50 Cent and Kanye West debuted on September 11th, 2007 and Kanye West and Graduation were among the top keywords.

So what does this say for Hip Hop? Perhaps we can use Google or iTunes to predict sales. We may soon have a new digital system of measurement in place in addition to iTunes, and Soundscan. Lets wait and see next week when Billboard releases their numbers. I predict he will hit #1 on the Billboard.

Jim Jones The High School Dropout - To Participate in Stay In School Concert

Does anyone see anything wrong with this? Jim Jones is participating in a stay in school concert in New York on October 17th, but he is a high school drop out. I guess the standards of leading by example get bypassed in the music business. On a positive note, the cause is positive and my girl Tonya Lewis is actually running the event. "Woh oh oh oh"...I attended The Chivas Regal Presents Victor Manuelle DVD @ Madison Square Garden @ The Tribeca Cinemas last night and he gave me an interview, shout out to my people (John and Jamie "The Maestro" ( a great personality. My ladies he is soooo dreamy.


I remember asking him something , I know is his lips were moving but I didn't hear a sound , all I saw were his perfect teeth and sparkly twinkling eyes.*Sigh* What makes Victor (you like that first name basis;huh? Woh oh Oh Oh) so much more appealing than his looks...is his interaction with people. He is so humble and gracious , whether you are from the media or a fan, Victor gives you all of his attention and he looks you right into your eyes and flahses that charismatic smile.
Well, let me get into the night, Chivas presented a screening of his performance @ Madison Square Garden, you really feel your Latin roots when you hear the sounds of your heritage , your people, his performances were amazing. There was free popcorn and soda for everyone (you know I was loving it)they presented him with a special bottle of Chivas (25yrs old) and he said he was going to find a special corner in his house to put the bottle.(Can I come too?)
The Chivas girls were on hand to bring everyone drinks and there were waiters and waitresses walking around with grilled shrimp, little grilled cheese sandwiches, Jalapeno brownies and roast beef with green sauce...umm umm.
He was bombarded by media (shout out to Univision and La Voz Hispana)and fans alike , it was crazy and he was a trooper smiling and hugging everyone and giving each and everyone some time . I got a kiss and a hug too...meow!!
Stay tuned to hear more about this event on the next coming episode, and as soon as I get all the footage and pictures I will post them up. Shout out to my girl Maria and Adam Mario Photography for the invite and for taking the flicks. In the meantime enjoy Victor Manuelle and Don Omar's performance of "Pobre Diabla"

Lil Wayne To Perform On Stage and Set Example for Drunk Driving Awareness Concert, Despite His Heavy Drug Abuse.

Now I finally come to realize that either the music business and it's artists are either desparate for some of that Corporate Money or exposure, or perhaps the people who hired Lil Wayne are unaware of his background. Lil Wayne is scheduled to perform at a Drunk Awarness concert tonight in Florida for the Dahlem Benevolent Fund - after Lt. Corey Dahlem was killed by a drunk driver. Of all people, Lil Wayne was selected. I dont think Lil Wayne should be setting the example for those who should not drink and drive. The kid uses drugs heavily, has a rap sheet the size of 2 football fields, and has recent lawsuits pending from fans suing him because of the violence initiated at his concerts. This is like Bob Marley having an Anti Weed campaign. If you ask me, there is something fishy popping. Is he doing this for charity in exchange to redeem his reputation? Do the concert promoters know about his criminal record? Do the concert promoters need him to raise the money and will oversee his criminal background? Or maybe this business is really going nuts? My people , mi gente ...some people have really got some issues. I may not be one hundred percent sure about this story being fake but chances are...
There is a woman named Tania Head who claimed to be a survicor of 9/11. She also claimed that she lost her fiance' David on that day. She also claimed to have come across a dying man who asked her to please give his wedding ring to his wife and she also claimed that a man rescued her and helped her get out of the building and that she was badly burned. Tania Head also...


met with the parents of a victim who died that day and told them she would send them a piece of her burned clothing as it was the last thing their son touched. All very heartbreaking accounts, problem is there is no proof that she even worked in The Twin Towers, the New York Times has begun investigations after realizing there were too many inconsistencies with her accounts of the events that day as well as different accounts. She even got to meet and shake hands with Mayor Guliani.
If it turns out to be a lie, what a disgrace.
